We are about 2.8 miles north of the geographical center of Scottsdale and our elevation rises from 1,690 feet at McDowell Mountain Ranch to almost a mile in Desert Mountain. This means our summer temperatures are about 11 degrees cooler than "America's Friendliest Airport" Sky Harbor International Airport in the summer and about 6 degrees cooler in the winter.
North Scottsdale contains a number of distinguished planned golf communities such as Desert Mountain with its six Jack Nicklaus signature courses, recognized by the Robb report as the world's "Best Golf Community", Mirabel with its Tom Fazio golf course, DC Ranch and its premier Silverleaf CC with a club house built with materials all imported from Italy, Whisper Rock with its two premier course where some of the top golf pros belong such as Phil Mickelson, Estancia, Troon North, Desert Highlands, Grayhawk, Tatum Ranch, Terravita, Tonto Verde, Legend Trail, just to name a few.
There are other notable communities that are not golf centered such as Winfield, a gated community built around tennis, Bellasera, Sincuidados, McDowell Mountain Ranch, Desert Ridge, and Saguaro Highlands.
The first new community in North Scottsdale in a decade, Sierra Reserve reflects The Lyle Anderson Company’s dedication to transforming lives and land into people and places of spirit, community and health. This intimate enclave of approximately 250 residences was thoughtfully designed to create a rewarding living environment offering a sense of serenity and security while maintaining a connection to the city and all its attractions.
In addition to the outstanding residential communities there are a number of renowned resorts; The Boulders, a world renowned golf, tennis, and spa (Golden Door Spa) resort, winner of a 2008 Golf Magazine Platinum Medal award, Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North, The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess with four award-winning restaurants, and two 18-hole championship golf courses -- one of which is home to the Annual PGA Tour Waste Management Phoenix Open. The JW Marriott at Desert Ridge rated by Conde Nast Travel Magazine readers as one of the top golf resorts, and The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa, a AAA Four Diamond resort next to one of the top shopping centers in Scottsdale, Kierland Commons; an open air venue that’s home to some of the top restaurants and shops in the Phoenix metro area.
Our marketing area includes other interesting communities besides North Scottsdale such as Carefree, home to fine restaurants, a private airport, Desert Forest Golf Club (considered to be the first desert-style course ever built), and many outstanding art studios. And then there’s Cave Creek with the atmosphere of a true western town, while to the east there are some great horse properties and two outstanding adult golf communities - Rio Verde and Tonto Verde.
Included in all of this is The McDowell Sonoran Preserve, an area encompassing 17,000 acres and still growing. Purchased with funds provided by city of Scottsdale, it’s administered by the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy,a local non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the Sonoran desert and mountains. The preserve offers visitors exceptional hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, rock-climbing and trail running experiences on more than 100 miles of trails and the award-winning Bajada Nature Trail for interactive experiences on a 1/2 mile barrier-free interpretive trail.
The Scottsdale area offers consumers more choices and living styles than any Phoenix area which is why the name of Scottsdale has that magic “cachet” unmatched by any other community.
